Gillette Stadium

Gillette Stadium is located at 1 Patriot Place, Foxborough, MA, 50 km southwest of downtown Boston. This distance is the stadium's biggest logistical challenge. There is no regular public transit to Foxborough.

On event days, MBTA operates a special commuter rail train from South Station in Boston to Foxborough, with a ride of approximately 75 minutes. This service is the best public transit option but is only available on match days. The cost is approximately $20-25 USD round trip. Trains depart South Station about 3 hours before the match and return up to 1 hour after the final whistle.

If driving from Boston, take I-93 South to Route 1, with a 45-60 minute drive depending on traffic. Stadium parking lots are ample and cost $40-60 USD. Uber and Lyft work but keep in mind that Foxborough is a suburban area: post-match availability is lower than in a city, and wait times can exceed 45 minutes. Some fans stay in Providence, Rhode Island (45 minutes south), which has easier transport and lower hotel prices than Boston. From Boston's Logan Airport (BOS), the stadium is 50-70 minutes by car.

Gillette Stadium has a bowl design with three levels: 100 level (lower), 200 level (club), and 300 level (upper). Total capacity is 65,878 seats. The stands have a moderate incline that provides good sightlines from most sections.

For soccer matches, the best views are in the sideline sections of the 100 level (sections 101-110 and 125-134), where proximity to the pitch is optimal. End sections (111-124 and 135-148) offer direct views of the goals. The Lighthouse (decorative lighthouse in the northeast corner) is a stadium icon.

The 200 level is the club zone with wider seats, access to air-conditioned lounges, and premium food service. It's the most comfortable option. The 300 level offers the most accessible prices with panoramic views of the stadium and surrounding New England forests. The stadium is open-air with no roof, so all seats are exposed to the elements. The west side gets shade first at afternoon matches.

The most convenient lodging option near Gillette Stadium is the Renaissance Boston Patriot Place, located literally within the Patriot Place complex adjacent to the stadium. It's the only walkable hotel, so it sells out quickly for large events. Book well in advance.

In Foxborough and nearby towns (Mansfield, Wrentham, Sharon), there are options like Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn, and Holiday Inn Express, 10-15 minutes by car from the stadium. For more variety, Providence, Rhode Island (45 minutes south) offers a broader hotel scene and generally lower prices than Boston.

The Patriot Place complex next to the stadium has over 30 restaurants and shops, including options like Bar Louie, Red Robin, and Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse. For the authentic New England culinary experience, downtown Boston (50 km) has the best seafood restaurants: Legal Sea Foods, Neptune Oyster, and Union Oyster House (the oldest restaurant in the United States). Clam chowder is the mandatory regional dish. For Latin American food, the East Boston neighborhood and Jamaica Plain area have excellent Colombian, Salvadoran, and Mexican restaurants.

Gillette Stadium meets ADA standards and offers accessible seating on all levels. Wheelchair spaces are distributed across sections on the 100, 200, and 300 levels, with adjacent companion seating. Ramps and elevators are available at all entrances and connect all levels.

Accessible restrooms are on all stadium levels. Customer service, located at the main gates, can provide assistive listening devices and other special assistance. Accessible parking is in the lots closest to stadium entrances.

The biggest accessibility challenge at Gillette Stadium is transportation, given that Foxborough lacks regular public transit. The special MBTA train from South Station is accessible for people with reduced mobility, but only operates on event days. For families with children, the Patriot Place complex offers additional entertainment before and after the match. The stadium is open-air, so sun protection and water are essential for daytime summer matches.
